Ep 55: The InVader Among Us

We left off with our party facing off against a Dark Trooper on-board their ship, and another behind the ship.

While IG manned the rear guns to take out the 2nd trooper, the one on the ship started a brief firefight with the crew, before they were able to calm things down and make it clear that they were not “in league” with the IG threat.

As the Denial of Service lifted off, Fenn was able to convince the nearby TIE fighters to hold off further attacks while he handled the threat from inside the ship. As the trooper’s helmet pulled back (in that cool Stargate kind of way), though, the party saw that it looked like a grisled Hayden Christiansen. The two Noghri on board immediately knelt before the trooper, whom they referred to as “Lord” (turns out he smelled EXACTLY like Vader).

After some confusion about who was going where and what systems were compromised, URL was able to give a fake ship diagnostic on a datapad, so that the trooper could hunt IG in the ship, activating & deactivating systems section-by-section.

Meanwhile, the party got in touch with IG secretly and had him jettison an escape pod (one of the two URL has on the ship). The party wasted no time in blowing the escape pod out of the sky, which convinced the Dark Trooper that the IG threat had been handled.

He asked the party to return him to the Arc Hammer in orbit above the planet, and that is pretty much where we can pick up next game, either at the Arc Hammer (if you want to talk to the captain or the trooper) or else just after leaving it.

Ep 54: Dark Troopers

After a recap of the previous game (which some folks missed), the party headed back for the ship, in a race against some strange new enemies sent by the Empire.

The party, scattered in different parts of the Atzerri city of Pravoka, bobbed & wove through the city as they tried to dodge the new Dark Troopers and still get back to the ship. Unfortunately, it appeared that the troopers knew exactly where they were going, and tracked the ship easily.

After a lot of cat-and-mouse, a massive firefight broke out around the ship. On Dark Trooper was disabled by concussion missiles from the Denial of Service, and another had its rocket launcher disabled… but that didn’t stop it from running onto the open cargo ramp.

We ended the session with one dark trooper on the ship, another quickly racing to join him, and the ship about to take off.

Ep 53: Strong Emotional Responses

NOTE: Jean/Javert & Chris/Odds were not present for the game. We had their characters in the background doing misc tasks (occasionally with hilarious accents) while they were gone.

Hell of a game last night, boys, hell of a game.

We had left off with Moss getting knocked off his speeder in the jungle by a large lizard-like creature. It turns out this was Shwer-Chi, the force-sensitive Ssi-Ruuk the party last saw escaping from [[Ep 24: Olfactory Slips | their plan to sell him to Zebulon Chesterfield III.]]

But we began, instead, by reading the rumors, specifically the news footage of IG chopping off some old man’s cybernetic leg with a vibro-axe in Nibbelheim. We saw the media’s disgust at this, and also learned of a new super-stormtrooper program designed specifically to deal with droid-related threats: the Dark Troopers.

We then jumped over to Fenn, who was off (with Javert as a silent bodyguard) to meet with the region’s Black Sun leader, a Quorren named Hentai, in Pravoka. After some awkward dealings with underlings in the lower levels, they took a turbolift up to the top floor, where Hentai was just finishing his dinner of Mon Calamari meat that Fenn had provided for him.

The “discussion” didn’t last too long, mostly ending when Fenn found out that Hentai had been the one to order Fenn’s dad’s death when his father refused to fix a Mon Cal meal for him. Hentai was pleased that not all Bothans shared that “fool chef’s unfortunate affliction of morality.” This pretty much sealed what happened next for Fenn.

Blasters were drawn, a standoff ensued, and Fenn pulled a thermal detonator. After getting enough information about the finances of his rival, Koth Del Ra, and how those interacted with behind-the-scenes secret dealings on Mandalore that the Black Sun was facilitating, Fenn shot the glass, jumped on Javert’s jet-packing form, and tossed the thermal detonator into the office while they flew out dramatically. A catch phrase or two may have been uttered.

IG, meanwhile, had escaped the immediate attacks from the Hutt-controlled imperial forces in Nibbelheim, and was elsewhere in Pravoka, picking up spare parts that could be used to complete his cybernetic frankensteining. He also attempted to contact the other IG units via the low-frequency “IG channel” to hopefully track them, but had no luck. IG was interrupted in his shopping by several nearby explosions.

Out in the swamp, Moss and Shwer-Chi had a tense stand-off, made more tense by the arrival of Noi J’etat and Chon’Go, the two nohgri who had escaped with Shwer-Chi from Zebulon’s fortress on Siskeen. They kept referring to Shwer-Chi as a “Vader Mind”, but also said that Moss smelt of “a Lady Vader”. Shwer-Chi kept referring to how he could smell Moss without smelling him, which Moss eventually understood to mean that there was some kind of Force sensing going on. Moss’s understanding of Shwer-Chi’s Force usage was different, though… unlike the light/dark dichotomy he was used to, and more of a primal, instinctive usage, as an extension of the lizard’s innate impulses.

Moss also revealed to the nohgri that Lord Vader had died in front of him, and explained the fake situation so that all made more sense. While it was determined that Moss had nothing to do with the plan to sell Shwer-Chi to the wealthy tycoon, the trio were still uncertain about the rest of the party, and agreed to go with Moss back to the ship to make further determinations.


With a cutaway in space, a new vessel appeared in orbit (which URL tracked). It had a long & slender appearance, with odd semi-cylindrical pods attached. It identified as the factory ship “Arc Hammer”. On the deck of the Arc Hammer, a communications officer finished speaking with a Nikto on the screen. The officer then walked up to the Captain, who gave the order to fire at the coordinates they’d just received. Three blasts from the ship sent three heavily-armored payloads into the city of Pravoka, and three Dark Troopers emerged, ready to hunt the IG threat.

Ep 52: Swamp People

We began on the planet Atzerri, a mostly crimelord-ruled swamp world with a reasonable Imperial military presence as well. It’s got a huge black market, and is also where many bits of the Rebellion are starting to gather together (around the recently repurposed massive medical frigate “The Redemption”).

There are 3 major cities on Atzerri, all of which got some attention this session:

  • Pravoka… Home of the Black Sun regional boss, a Quorren named “Hentai”. Also an Imperial Garrison headed by the young up-and-comer human officer Parn, and to some secret slave trading markets.
  • Midgar… Home to the Midgar Mercenaries soldiers-for-hire, and also a massive satellite facility that is Galactic Transfer Station 21347, a major hub for holo-net traffic headed to the mid-rim & beyond. Home to the Nikto-only slicer collective The Infinite Circle, and overseen by the well-worn Imperial human general Rex Normandy.
  • Nibbelheim… Home to the famed Fighting Pits of Nibbelheim, the Diori Cartel (lead by the Hutt Decca Diori), and the near-human female Imperial commander Mileena Strax.

Ep 49: Hospital Blues

We began with the party trying to track down the signal from the failing ship of Sheba & Princess Leia. Jumping over to Correlia, they learned that a bounty had been put out on the ship, which was a small long-range transport (pretty much a Raptor from BSG).

Jumping to the middle-of-nowhere spot along the hyperspace course where they knew the ship to be, the party saw that its hull was ionized due to malfunctioning systems, making a direct link-up to their ship impossible.

We went through an extended spacewalk, with Gungi trying to add some brute force Force use to propel Moss, IG, & Odds towards the other ship. Once there, they had some varied technical challenges getting into the vessel, de-ionizing the ship, and getting enough power back on to seal the doors. Finally, they repressurized the back room and opened the cockpit door, where both Leia and Sheba still had life signs, but only Leia was conscious.

With the cockpit windows iced-over, the group in the shuttle could not see what was happening outside…

Meanwhile, Fenn & URL could very easily see the pirate ship “Lucky Penny” that had jumped into system, and was preparing to launch its Z-95 headhunters at the Denial of Service. Fenn did some Fenning at them, which made them pause for a bit, but as the others eventually were mid-space headed back to the ship with a hastily suited Leia and Sheba, missiles were fired, systems were hacked, and a battle was about to go not-so-well for the party.

At the last moment, though, another ship (a PB-950 Patrol Boat – “The Far Reacher”) appeared in the space above the first two, facing down at them. It was heavily armed, but older, and broadcast a message from the bounty hunter Embo, who demanded that the unlicensed pirates not try to collect on a bounty that the Guild would hear about. The pirates backed off, but we left on a cliffhanger as Embo messaged the party and demanded that they let him take Leia into his care.

We will begin the next session with this sub-space staredown.

Ep 48: Dial M for Megalomaniac
"I need your help to make a call"

With everyone still reeling from the IG-88/Mechis 3 attack on the Imperial weapons depot, the party was still at the refueling/mall station Iziz-1 in the Onderon sector. High Inquisitor Tremayne, who had done his best (with Moss supporting communications) to direct the Imperial defense, asked Moss for help making one last call. He went to a private room and handed Moss some coordinates & an Imperial code. Moss (of course) set the call to also broadcast to the Arkanis, where the rest of the party watched as well.

A hooded figure appeared on the holo-table, and Tremayne kneeled before his master, Emperor Palpatine(!). Fortunately for Moss (who was in-shot of Palpatine’s camera), the Emperor didn’t seem to notice him at first.

In the discussion between Tremayne & Palpatine, it was revealed that they’d put fake data in the weapons depot about the location of the new Death Star. They spoke of a hope that the growing zerg threat would take care of IG’s Mechis III planet, and then the Empire could wipe out what was left of the Zerg.

Palpatine got a strange look on his face, and then asked if Tremayne had been wavering at all in his convictions. He said that there was a strange silver presence in his aura, a white light that did not mix with the Dark Side energy. Neither seemed to realize that Palpatine was sensing Moss, but Tremayne said he would meditate on the matter.

Back at the ship, the party did their best to decide what to do next. While they debated, Coventry’s Nova-class star destroyer appeared in system, to “save the day” and show the power of the Empire. In reality it was likely also a PR stunt to show that Thrawn’s empire is better at responding than Palpatine’s, but that remains to be seen, since the details of that schism are not actually public knowledge yet.

The party messaged Coventry, who was busy giving a live news broadcast about how the Empire was there to take charge again. Afterwards, they spoke with him, gave him some information, warned him about Tremayne, and were surprised when he was not worried about the dark Jedi. He said that Grand Admiral Thrawn had given him the methods so that he would not need to worry about Tremayne. (out of game, he likely has ysalmiri, which Thrawn learned about in the Heir to Empire book). Coventry also offered a redefinition of roles to Fenn & Co, asking if they instead wanted military ranks. The next game will begin with the party deciding on what those ranks are.

Following the hyperspace routes to the Arkanis sector, the party was stopped when they received a message on Sheba’s encoded channel for Fenn. The message was from a horribly ill and radiation-scarred princess Leia, who had apparently been rescued by Sheba from the Imperial hospital on Correllia. Their life support was failing, though, and they were likely being pursued, so they didn’t have long. The session ended with Leia’s recorded last words: “Help me, Fenn Kithra, you’re my only hope.”

Ep 47: What Ever Happened To Those Missing School Buses?

The party spent some tense moments wandering around the duty-free shopping center in Refueling Station Iziz-1 near Onderon, worried that the Sith Inquisitor Tremayne was hot on their tails.

Because it’s always a good idea to do so, the party decided to split up. Javert went off to buy medical supplies. IG & Gungi headed to the cybernetics/droid area. Odds went to talk to the dude-bro selling “totally kickin” speeders, and Moss & Fenn headed to see Grandma Okra, an old Bothan woman who ran a soup shop, but was also an information gatherer for SpyNet.

Javert had the easiest time, experiencing no hassles getting med packs & whatnot.

Moss & Fenn learned that they don’t eat nearly enough, and that they should make sure to keep their strength up and eat plenty of healthy Bothan food. They also were able to get their ship pushed up in the refueling queue, and ensure that Grandma Okra would use her connections to prevent any delays in leaving. Also, she gave them lots of soup (in one of the soup containers was a baggie w/ a flash drive full of info for SpyNet).

IG went to the arm store, where there were 2 right arms available. As he was there with Gungi, who is missing a right arm, he eventually decided it’d be kind of a jerk thing to take them both for himself, and paid for Gungi to get one of them (even if it was slightly shorter than his wookiee arm). As this was getting attached, IG went next door to the droid shop to buy one of those little pit droids (from Ep 1).

Odds was able to successfully purchase a new speeder, with a sidecar, and have it delivered to the ship. However, he also saw Tremayne enter the facility, and began a cat-and-mouse game of following/dodging the dark Jedi.

While moving around the mall and trying to get the Apple Store to alert mall security on Tremayne, something weird happened outside.

The planet Mechis 3 rounded the sun (Onderon had been experiencing weird gravitational effects lately… due to the fact that there was suddenly another planet in-system) and an E-3PO droid cut into the broadcast feeds, demanding that all organics leave the galaxy and that all weapons be turned over to Master IG-88. Mechis 3 then launched the 10 missing schoolbus ships full of kids, and launched them into hyperspace at the Star Destroyer Interrogator, destroying it and the school ships.

Moss, weakened by the disturbance in the Force of so many deaths, was surprised when Tremayne recognized him and requisitioned his help in communicating with the rest of the Imperial ships, coordinating the losing battle against IG-88. Mechis 3 evenutally took out the rest of the defenses around the Jyrenne Weapons Depot, captured all the weapons, and eventually launched into hyperspace again.

The party, in URL’s ship, The Denial of Service, had to fight off a wave of TIE fighters as their hyperdrive slowly cooled in the skies near Onderon

…that’s pretty much the entire episode.

Ended with URL throwing up a make-shift cloaking wall, and Tremayne’s ship heading towards the party.
